The system has already covered parts of the Napoleonic Wars, but now they return to the big one, the Battle of Waterloo. Releasing huge starter armies for both sides; Napoleon’s French and the British under Wellington.
Unboxing Black Powder Epic Battles - the Waterloo Campaign British Starter
Black Power, from Warlord Games, is an epic scale wargame, covering the period from around 1700 to 1900. That lets you get into the thick of the Napoleonic Wars, the American Civil War, and the Anglo-Zulu War. When men were men, reloading your firearm took a while and moustaches were truly inspiring.
The system has already covered parts of the Napoleonic Wars, but now they return to the big one, the Battle of Waterloo. Releasing huge starter armies for both sides; Napoleon’s French and the British under Wellington.
What is Black Powder?
Have you ever wanted to re-enact the grand scale combat of days of old? Not the messy, tank filled combats of the 20th century. But organised, brightly coloured ranks having at it with musket and sword.
Then Black Powder is for you.
Now in its second edition, the system is written by industry legends Rick Priestley and Jervis Johnson. So, as you’d expect, Black Powder is a refined game, with clear, detailed rules.
The focus is very much on formations, morale, and the like. You won’t be obliterating your opponent in Black Powder; troops are more likely to quit the field than to be blown off of it!
The rulebook contained within this set covers the full rules of the game in just over 100 pages. But don’t worry, the rules themselves are pretty simple to pick up.
The depth of rules is there more to remove questions you may have, then to blow you mind with ever greater complexity.
What’s in the box?

What about the miniatures?
Right, are you sitting down? You best be. Here’s the big stuff, the main event.

That is not a typo.
Over a thousand.
See?
And then there’s the bases to go with them!
