Previewing the new releases Raveneye and Morats from Corvus Belli for Infinity
Infinity N4’s first edition dropped in June 2020; as ever with Corvus Belli, this didn’t just improve the rules, it also progressed the in-game narrative. Since then? Well, the world’s been a bit crazy so aside from a few army updates, it’s been pretty quiet.
That changed last week with the unveiling of Raveneye, the latest rules and narrative update for N4 with a new army pack for the Morat Aggression Forces.
For those unfamiliar with Infinity, it’s a 28mm scale, sci-fi skirmish wargame from Spanish company Corvus Belli. Now in its fourth edition, there are some great reasons you should be giving it a go!
The universe moves on…
The story centres on the Raveneye Orbital Complex, the main defensive structure protecting Concilium Prima, the political centre of the human sphere.
Events in the book will deal with a strike by the Morat Aggression Forces as they attempt to bring down this crucial structure and strike deep into the Durgama region.
But that’s not all the book covers, we’ll also find out more about important factions including PanOceania, Military Orders, Ariadna, Kosmoflot, Nomads, Corregidor, Combined Army, and, of course, Morats.
During the reveal last week, we learned that the fate of the Military Orders greatest hero, Joan of Arc, will be revealed as will a great sacrifice by Nomad troops…
As the war between the Human Sphere and the Combined Army heats up, Raveneye will be a pivotal moment in the history books yet to be written.
New ways to play.
Raveneye doesn’t just tell you about this crucial action, the book contains three narrative missions to enable you to re-enact the covert operations on the tabletop.
You’ll also find new units, rules, and information on the newer factions in the game including Ariadna’s Kosmoflot as well as new units for Military Order and Corregidor. These can, of course, but used in the vanilla armies of PanOceania, Ariadna and Nomads if you’re not a sectorial fan!
But the biggest winner is the Morat Aggression Forces…
Very angry monkeys…
New books often attract either a new army or, at least, a revamp of an existing one. So, it is with Raveneye, the Morats get their turn at updated minis and whole new units.
Known for their direct, uncomplicated play style, the Morats are not an army for the subtle. The first releases for the Morats includes the Action Pack which gives you nine miniatures, including:
This gives you around 200 points of army including some heavy hitters and specialists for completing missions.
To expand the army pack, you’ll also find a new Dire Foes box, which contains the indispensable Treitak Anyat. For Morats, she’s a swiss army knife unit, with a range of different applications and uses. Adding Anyat to the Vanguard and Raktorak will give you a full, five-unit fireteam, very powerful!
Dire Foes will also give you a Zabuk Enslaver which can be added to your army either as an HVT or as a combat unit, depending on which you prefer.
Finally, during the release period, you can grab a Tyrok Hunter exclusive miniature. A surprisingly tough and hard-hitting hunter, the Tyrok is a great addition to your force.
Adding these all in will push your space monkey lists up close to the tournament standard 300 points… the question is, what will you add to take it up there?
Also, last week a whole new set of orders for fireteams was released by Corvus Belli, but we’ll discuss those in a later blog. But, don’t worry, they’re coming.
You can pre-order Infinity Raveneye now, just head on over to the store, there’s a tasty discount there for anyone ordering early AND you’ll receive the pre-order exclusive O-12 Raveneye Officer!
